Returns & Refunds

We want you to be happy with your order. This policy explains how cancellations, returns, refunds, damaged goods and bespoke products are handled at Alpha Print & Signs.

Last updated: [20 September 2026]

The Policy

1. Introduction

This Returns & Refunds Policy explains how Alpha Print & Signs handles cancellations, returns, refunds and problems with orders.

Because many of the products we supply are printed, personalised or manufactured specifically to a customer’s requirements, the return rights for those products can differ from standard non-personalised products.

Nothing in this policy affects any statutory rights available to consumers under UK law.

2. Contact Us About an Order

If you have a problem with an order, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please provide:

  • your name;
  • order or invoice number;
  • details of the issue;
  • photographs showing any damage or defect where applicable; and
  • any other information that may help us investigate.

Email: info@alphaprintandsigns.com
Telephone: 01282 216 416

We will review the issue and work with you to determine an appropriate resolution.

3. Personalised and Custom-Made Products

Most of the products supplied by Alpha Print & Signs are produced specifically to the customer’s requirements.

These may include:

  • business cards;
  • flyers and leaflets;
  • brochures;
  • posters;
  • PVC banners;
  • printed boards;
  • stickers and labels;
  • signage;
  • branded workwear;
  • custom packaging;
  • exhibition graphics;
  • window graphics;
  • vehicle graphics and wraps;
  • custom-sized products; and
  • other products produced using customer-supplied artwork or specifications.

For qualifying consumer distance sales, the normal 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right generally does not apply to goods that are made to the customer’s specification or clearly personalised.

This does not affect your rights where a personalised or custom-made product is faulty, incorrectly produced or not as described.

4. Standard Non-Personalised Products

If you are a consumer purchasing a standard, non-personalised product online, by telephone or through another qualifying distance-selling method, you may have the right to change your mind.

Where the statutory cancellation right applies, you generally have 14 days from receiving the goods to tell us you wish to cancel, followed by a further 14 days to return the goods.

Please contact us before returning any product so that we can confirm the appropriate return procedure.

5. Cancelling an Order Before Production

If you wish to cancel an order, contact us immediately.

Where production has not yet started, we will consider whether the order can be cancelled.

However, many of our products move into artwork processing, material preparation or production shortly after the order is accepted.

Once costs have been incurred or bespoke production has begun, we may not be able to cancel a custom order without charge.

For personalised or made-to-order products, the statutory change-of-mind right may not apply as explained above.

6. Artwork and Design Work

Where an order includes graphic design, artwork preparation or other creative services, work may begin before physical production.

If you request cancellation after design work has started, any completed work or costs already reasonably incurred may still be chargeable where permitted by law and under the terms agreed for the project.

If you are a consumer purchasing a service at a distance and ask for that service to start during the statutory cancellation period, additional consumer cancellation rules may apply.

7. Proof Approval

Where we provide a digital or physical proof, it is your responsibility to check it carefully before approving production.

Please check:

  • spelling;
  • telephone numbers;
  • addresses;
  • website addresses;
  • dates;
  • pricing;
  • colours;
  • images;
  • logos;
  • layout;
  • dimensions;
  • quantities; and
  • any other important content.

Once you approve a proof, we manufacture the product based on that approved version.

If the finished product accurately matches an approved proof, we would not normally offer a refund or free reprint for an error that was present and visible in the approved artwork.

This does not affect your rights if we fail to manufacture the product in accordance with the approved specification.

8. Customer-Supplied Artwork

Customers are responsible for ensuring artwork supplied to Alpha Print & Signs is accurate and suitable for production.

Please check your artwork carefully before submission.

Issues caused by customer-supplied artwork may include:

  • spelling errors;
  • incorrect contact information;
  • low-resolution images;
  • missing bleed;
  • incorrect dimensions;
  • poor-quality graphics;
  • incorrect colours;
  • missing fonts; or
  • unsuitable file setup.

Where we have produced the product correctly from the supplied and approved artwork, these issues would not normally qualify as a manufacturing fault.

Our Artwork Requirements page provides guidance on supplying print-ready artwork.

9. Colour Variation

Printed colours can differ from the colours displayed on a computer, tablet or mobile screen.

Colour reproduction may also differ depending on:

  • the printing method;
  • substrate;
  • material;
  • ink;
  • coating or laminate;
  • lighting conditions; and
  • production process.

Minor colour variations within normal production tolerances are not necessarily considered faults.

If exact colour matching is critical, please speak to us before ordering so that we can advise on the most suitable production method or proofing option.

10. Size, Trimming and Production Tolerances

Printed and manufactured products can be subject to reasonable production tolerances.

Small variations may occur in:

  • trimming;
  • dimensions;
  • positioning;
  • colour;
  • folding;
  • finishing; and
  • quantities.

If an exact tolerance is critical to your project, please tell us before ordering so that we can confirm whether your requirement can be accommodated.

11. Faulty or Incorrect Goods

If we have supplied an item that is faulty, incorrectly manufactured or materially different from what was ordered, please contact us promptly.

For consumer purchases, goods must meet applicable statutory standards, and consumer remedies can include refund, repair or replacement depending on the circumstances. The Consumer Rights Act includes a short-term right to reject certain faulty goods within 30 days.

We may ask you to provide photographs, samples or return the product so that we can investigate the issue.

Where we confirm that a production fault is our responsibility, an appropriate remedy may include:

  • reprinting or remanufacturing the product;
  • replacing the affected goods;
  • repairing the product where appropriate;
  • providing a price reduction; or
  • issuing a refund where applicable.

The appropriate remedy will depend on the circumstances and your statutory rights.

12. Damaged Goods

If your order arrives damaged, contact us as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

Please retain:

  • the goods;
  • the original packaging; and
  • any delivery labels.

Where possible, send us photographs showing:

  • the damaged product;
  • the packaging;
  • the external parcel or box; and
  • the shipping label.

This information allows us to investigate whether the damage occurred during production, packing or delivery.

13. Missing or Incomplete Orders

If items are missing from your delivery, please contact us with your order details and information about what has been received.

Some larger orders may be dispatched in multiple parcels, so we will first check whether the remaining items are still in transit.

If we confirm that part of your order has not been supplied, we will arrange an appropriate solution.

14. Incorrect Items

If you receive an item different from what you ordered, please contact us before using, fitting or altering it.

Where the error is ours, we will arrange an appropriate replacement, correction or other remedy.

15. Do Not Use Faulty Products Before Contacting Us

Where possible, please do not install, wear, alter, distribute or otherwise use an item that you believe is defective or incorrect before contacting us.

For example:

  • do not install incorrect signage;
  • do not distribute incorrectly printed leaflets;
  • do not fit vehicle graphics believed to be defective; and
  • do not wear or wash incorrect personalised garments.

Using or altering a product can make it more difficult to investigate the issue.

This does not remove any statutory rights that apply.

16. Returning Standard Products

Where a return has been agreed, products should be returned:

  • complete;
  • appropriately packaged;
  • with any supplied accessories; and
  • in reasonable condition.

For a valid consumer change-of-mind cancellation, a customer is generally allowed to handle goods in a similar way to how they could examine them in a shop. A refund may be reduced where handling goes beyond what is necessary and reduces the value of the goods.

Please do not send goods back without first contacting us unless we have provided instructions that specifically allow this.

17. Return Delivery Costs

Where a consumer is exercising a valid change-of-mind right for a non-faulty product, the customer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods where this has been made clear before purchase.

Where goods are faulty, incorrect or damaged due to an issue for which Alpha Print & Signs is responsible, we will deal with reasonable return arrangements as required.

Government guidance requires businesses to make return-cost responsibilities clear for distance sales.

18. Refunds for Cancelled Distance Orders

Where a consumer validly cancels a qualifying standard distance purchase, applicable rules generally require the refund to include the original standard delivery charge.

If a customer selected a more expensive delivery option, such as an enhanced or express service, only the equivalent cost of standard delivery normally needs to be refunded.

Where goods have been returned, qualifying refunds are generally due within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or receiving evidence that they have been sent back where applicable.

Refunds will normally be issued back to the original payment method unless another arrangement is agreed.

19. Refund Processing Times

Once a refund has been authorised by Alpha Print & Signs, we will process it as soon as reasonably possible.

After we issue the refund, the time taken for it to appear in your account may depend on your bank, card issuer or payment provider.

20. Delivery Charges

Original delivery charges are not automatically refundable in every situation.

Where a consumer exercises a valid statutory cancellation right for a qualifying distance purchase, the standard outbound delivery charge is generally refundable.

Different rules may apply to bespoke goods, business purchases, partial returns and other circumstances.

21. Express and Upgraded Delivery

Where a customer chooses an upgraded delivery service that costs more than our standard delivery option, any statutory refund of the outbound delivery charge will normally be limited to the cost of the standard delivery service.

22. Signage

Most signage is designed and manufactured specifically for the customer’s premises and requirements.

This can include:

  • shop fascia signage;
  • illuminated signs;
  • tray signs;
  • internal signage;
  • window graphics;
  • dimensional lettering;
  • directional signage; and
  • custom display products.

Because these products are typically custom-made, they will normally not be eligible for change-of-mind returns.

If there is a problem with the manufacture or installation of signage supplied by Alpha Print & Signs, please contact us so that we can inspect and investigate the issue.

23. Signage Installation

If you believe there is a fault with installed signage, please contact us before attempting repairs, removal or alterations yourself.

Where necessary, we may arrange an inspection.

Problems caused by circumstances outside the original installation specification, accidental damage or subsequent alterations may not be regarded as manufacturing or installation defects.

24. Branded Workwear

Garments that have been printed, embroidered or otherwise personalised are normally custom-made products and cannot generally be returned simply because the customer changes their mind.

Customers should check:

  • garment type;
  • size;
  • colour;
  • quantities;
  • logo position; and
  • approved artwork

before production.

If we supply an incorrect garment, incorrect branding or a defective item, contact us so that we can investigate.

25. Garment Sizing

Garment sizing can vary between brands and product ranges.

Customers should review the relevant sizing information before ordering personalised clothing.

A correctly supplied personalised garment would not normally be considered faulty purely because the selected size does not fit as expected.

For larger workwear orders, you may wish to discuss sizing with our team before production.

26. Custom Packaging

Custom-printed packaging is produced according to approved specifications and is normally treated as a bespoke product.

Customers are responsible for checking:

  • dimensions;
  • structure;
  • artwork;
  • quantity;
  • materials; and
  • intended use

before approving production.

If we manufacture packaging incorrectly against the approved specification, please contact us so that we can investigate.

27. Vehicle Graphics and Wraps

Vehicle graphics and wraps are typically designed and manufactured for a specific vehicle and are therefore bespoke products.

If you have concerns about materials, print quality or installation, contact us promptly.

The condition of the underlying vehicle can affect graphics and wrap performance.

Issues arising from factors such as existing paint damage, corrosion, unsuitable respray work, vehicle modifications or damage occurring after installation may require separate assessment.

28. Modular Vehicle Wraps

Modular vehicle wrap components are manufactured for specific designs and vehicle requirements and are generally customised goods.

Where individual modules have been produced incorrectly by us, we may be able to replace the affected section without replacing the complete vehicle graphics package.

Please contact us with photographs and project details so the issue can be assessed.

29. Bespoke Design Services

Design and artwork services are not physical goods and may involve time being committed before the final product enters production.

Once design work has started, completed work may be chargeable even if the wider project is subsequently cancelled.

Any specific revision allowance or cancellation arrangement stated within your quotation will also apply.

30. Business and Trade Customers

Statutory consumer cancellation rights generally apply to consumers rather than purchases made primarily for business purposes.

Business and trade orders are therefore handled in accordance with our agreed commercial terms, quotations and Terms & Conditions.

Where a business customer believes products are faulty or incorrectly produced, please contact us promptly so that we can investigate and agree an appropriate resolution.

31. Trade Orders

Trade products are often manufactured to specification and may be supplied under confidential trade arrangements.

Please check artwork, specifications and quantities carefully before approval.

Trade customers should report manufacturing or delivery issues promptly and retain all relevant goods and packaging until we have confirmed whether these need to be inspected or returned.

32. Products Produced by Third-Party Partners

Some specialist products or processes may involve trusted manufacturing or fulfilment partners.

Where a problem arises, Alpha Print & Signs remains your point of contact for orders placed directly with us.

We may need to work with the relevant production or delivery partner when investigating the issue.

33. Products We Cannot Resell

Where a product carries a customer’s:

  • name;
  • logo;
  • branding;
  • contact details;
  • design;
  • custom dimensions; or
  • other personalised specification,

it generally cannot reasonably be resold to another customer.

This is why change-of-mind cancellation rights may not apply to genuinely customised or personalised goods.

34. If We Ask You to Return an Item

If we need a product returned for inspection, we will provide return instructions.

Unless we have agreed otherwise, please:

  1. package the item securely;
  2. include your order details;
  3. use the agreed return method; and
  4. retain proof of postage or collection.

Do not dispose of the product before the claim has been resolved unless we tell you that this is acceptable.

35. Refunds Are Not the Only Remedy

Where a product has a manufacturing issue, a full refund may not always be the appropriate first remedy.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable consumer rights, we may be able to:

  • repair the product;
  • reproduce the affected item;
  • replace the goods;
  • correct the installation;
  • offer a price reduction; or
  • provide a refund.

We will consider the nature of the fault, the type of product and applicable legal requirements when determining the appropriate remedy.
